Job interview

This section provides information about job interviews.

The interviewer and the job seeker meet during the job interview. During the interview, the interviewer asks questions, and the job seeker responds to them.

When an employer receives job applications, they first review them. The employer invites some of the job seekers for an interview. Not all applicants are usually invited to the interview.

It is important to arrive on time for the job interview. Make sure to leave enough time to find the location if it is unfamiliar to you.

There are often several interviewers in a job interview. Be prepared to speak to more than one person. Wear neat and professional clothes for the interview.

The interviewer wants to hear the answers to their questions, but they also want to see what kind of person you are. So, be yourself during the interview. However, always remember to be polite and professional.

Before the interview, it’s a good idea to think about your answers to common interview questions. You can also practice the interview, for example, with a friend.

Sometimes, a question during the interview might be difficult for you. If this happens, you can say, “Let me think about this for a moment and I will answer.” You can take a short pause and think about your response.

The length of a job interview varies. It might last one hour or just half an hour.

In job interviews, the same type of questions are often asked in various forms. Similar questions are asked to see if you are consistent in your answers. Consistency means answering similar questions in a relatively similar way. Consistency gives the interviewer a trustworthy impression of you.

During the interview, you will almost always be asked about the following: your work history, what jobs you’ve done before, your education, what you have studied, your strengths, your good qualities, your weaknesses, the things you need to improve in yourself.

You will often be asked why they should choose you for this job. This means what benefits the workplace will get if they hire you.
